There are several types and dozens of brands of audio cables. The choice depends on what one wants to hook up and how concerned is about sound quality. Generally speaking, 5-7percent of the total system cost is considered adequate to be invested in cables. If one’s just listening to background music, news shows, etc., or if sound quality isn’t all that important, one can use practically any cable - even the cheap ones that come packaged with many audio components.

The true audiophile believes that only the best will do, and they will commit the dollars to obtain cables that are not only sturdier, but provide optimum performance of their audio system. You can spend hundreds of dollars for audio cables, like toslink audio cables, audio interconnect and gold plated connectors, but to the audio elitist the price is worth it, not only for the sound quality, but also for bragging rights. Still to many of us, it is hard to justify the added expense for the improved sound quality.

A cable has one basic purpose: transference of signal from point A to point B without interference. For audio frequencies the goal is minimization of loss through the control of Resistance, Capacitance, and Inductance. The four basic types of cables that can be used for these purposes are analog audio cables, audio video cables, Audio speaker cables, and digital cables.

RCA connections are utilized for passing analog line-level audio signals that go between components. RCA audio cables come grouped in stereo pairs, one connection is for the right channel and one for the left audio channel. A good idea for line level analog interconnects is the use of a cable with the following qualities: well shielded to eliminate interference and external noise sources, and low in capacitance.

Video Cables may be the most important cables as the signals that are passed through these cables are at a very high frequency. The higher the frequency, more critical it is to have proper impedance, adequate shielding and solid terminations which audio video cables provide. Thus, a video cable should be well shielded and should maintain the proper characteristic impedance.

Audio speaker cables are usually fairly thick, and have two conductors; they can be tipped with spade lugs, metal pins, banana plugs or just bare wire. One needs to ensure that there is the tightest connection of the cable to amp and loudspeaker to minimize contact resistance. One should always remember to keep the speaker cable runs as short as possible and not to loop excessive cables as this may slightly increase cable inductance.

A special group of cables is digital audio cables. There are two types: optical and coaxial. Optical cables transmit digital audio signals as pulses of light. Coaxial digital cables look like standard analog RCA cables, but instead transfer digital audio signals. They are typically a single cable, whereas analog RCA cables are usually double plugs, for stereo audio.

Depending on your choice of audio requirements for sound quality, there are a host of cables available in the market. Most general purpose users do not need to look at the brands and quality of cables and the cheapest ones that come packages with the equipment work fine. Choosier customers may have to spend several hundred dollars to satiate their high quality desires. The main objective of these specialized cables is to transmit audio signals from one point to another unchanged. This involves minimizing losses by controlling Resistance, Inductance and Capacities at audio frequencies. Various specialized audio cables include audio video cables, audio speaker cable, analog ones and digital cables.

People going to watch a thriller dvd will be unhappy

Can you hear the thunder? Tropic - thunder that is! Tropic Thunder was an entertaining and was also a very interesting concept for a buy dvd movie. The dvd included top shelf actors Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr… and get this Tom Cruise? People going to watch a thriller will be unhappy, but if you were looking to see some comedy will find plenty of that.

The dvd movies itself is about a group of actors in a thriller war movie who are sent into the jungle to get more of a feel for their parts, but end up getting caught in a real battle… unbeknownst to them. It’s an unique concept which gets the group of actors in a plethora of crazy situations.

Tropic Thunder stops just short of going over the edge with satirical humor that bites with a freshly acute sense of its own relevancy. The first hour of the movie has an pulse and edge that makes it a joy to behold, but even still as Ben Stiller tries to tie everthing together into a cohesive hole, the humor drains from the movie, and it all turns a little old.

One of the funniest aspects of the buy dvd movie is Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Kirk Lazarus. In the fake movie, Kirk Lazarus is an method actor who really likes to delve into his characters, and this time he goes to no end and pulls a reverse-Michael Jackson, hilarious! Overall, this movie is a must-see for comedy lovers, and is sure to be a top selling DVD.
